Mathcelebrity Review:
based on real mystery shopping

A*Help Score: 38/100

Quick Overview

MathCelebrity initially promises a comprehensive suite of mathematical tools, spanning from basic arithmetic to advanced subjects like calculus and physics. With an extensive array of calculators and some instructional videos, the platform seems equipped to support a wide range of mathematical inquiries. However, its inability to construct graphs, table charts, or geometrical figures notably limits its utility for visual learners and those dealing with complex geometrical problems.

The Good

Methodology

We think Mathcelebrity is the first website that wasn’t able to either solve or provide decent methodology to our tasks in this mystery shopping. The only thing that is positive about the site is the fact it has detailed explanations available from the get-go and also related examples and questions at the end of the page. Other than that, Mathcelebrity wasn’t much of a celebrity in our book.

Value for Money – 17/30 ⭐️⭐️⭐️

At first glance, it seems that MathCelebrity has a lot to offer; there are many different types of calculators available for what looks like any type of problem there is. There are also some videos on the site that explain how to use a certain calculator with examples regarding the chosen topic. However, Mathcelebrity is incapable of building graphs, table charts, or geometrical figures.

There are two subscriptions available for $3 and $6/month, claiming to provide an ad-free experience, calculator history, and detailed explanations (although the site already has them). The higher-priced subscription also allows you to create custom tests, custom problems, and get ‘exclusive’ PDF resources. Mathcelebrity also has a ‘solving via photo’ function; we don’t really understand it’s purpose since it didn’t pick up any of the handwriting in three times we tried.

Overall Experience – 11/20 ⭐️⭐️⭐️

The website experience was underwhelming to say the least. The platform is completely cluttered with tens of calculators and YouTube videos (one of which is constantly playing at the bottom of the page; you can’t turn it off). It is laggy and unpleasant to work with. You have to scroll through endless options to at least find out whether the platform has a proper calculator, because the search option only gives you similar examples that are most of the time irrelevant to the task.

If you do find what you’ve been looking for, scrolling through the explanation is tough – poor webdesign makes the page ‘jump’. Mathcelebrity has an iOS and Android app, but the app doesn’t have a ‘solve via photo’ feature which is the most logical thing to have on your phone; however, it is available on the website. The app itself doesn’t have the calculators listed, so you can’t just choose one of them. Instead, you have to enter it in the search bar and also get simillar tasks – still no calculator. So, the overall experience here is just… mindblowing.

Conclusion

With an A*Help Score of 38/100, MathCelebrity falls short of expectations as a reliable and user-friendly mathematical resource. While it boasts a wide range of calculators and some useful explanations, the platform’s significant navigational challenges, ineffective photo solving, and lack of graphical tools limit its appeal. For students and educators in search of a comprehensive math-solving tool, MathCelebrity may offer some value but likely won’t meet all their needs.
