Quick Overview
Grammarly’s Essay Checker offers a powerful grammar analysis tool but falls short in terms of essay grading, making it a pricey option at $30 per month for full access. The service provides a thorough examination of grammar, spelling, punctuation, readability, vocabulary, engagement, and delivery, but it lacks content analysis, which limits its value for money. Grammarly’s platform is user-friendly, with easy registration, browser extension, and desktop app options, and it allows for file uploads and downloads. While it excels in highlighting writing quality aspects, it does not evaluate essay structure, topic focus, or logic, making it more of a grammar improvement tool than an essay grader. That’s why this service got marked with a 53/100 A*Help score.

Grammarly: Grading Quality — 19/60 ⭐️⭐️
Grammarly is not an essay checker – it’s a grammar fixer. Here, you won’t see the analysis of the content of your essay but rather of the form: whether any spelling and grammatical mistakes need fixing, and too long sentences that need to be made clearer. So, no wonder that we didn’t get a fair evaluation of two of our essays. The only thing that Grammarly Essay Checker got right was clarity and, of course, the mechanics. Other than that, it didn’t give us a comprehensive evaluation of the two provided works.

Grammarly: Value for Money — 16/20 ⭐️⭐️⭐️⭐️
Grammarly’s Essay Checker is a rather pricey option, considering it doesn’t do the grading but rather a grammar analysis of writing. On one hand, it evaluates various aspects of the text such as vocabulary, grammar, spelling, and punctuation, readability, and even engagement and delivery of the information. However, it doesn’t really provide content analysis. So, taking into account that this platform (which is rather a grammar checker than an essay grader) comes at $30/month for full access, we would say that its value for money is limited.
Grammarly: Overall Experience — 18/20 ⭐️⭐️⭐️⭐️
Grammarly is indeed a highly convenient tool. It is available as a browser extension and can also be installed as a desktop app. The personal account, that you are required to make to use the platform, is easy to register and work with. The fact that you can just upload and download files here makes the service even more easy to use. However, it needs to be noted that Grammarly doesn’t provide a grading form – just a field for your essay to be analyzed in terms of writing quality. And this is the only thing that takes away from this tool’s convenience.
Conclusion
Grammarly is a great tool to proofread your essays and research papers on the premise of grammatical mistakes, misspelled words, and unclear writing. Moreover, it will definitely help you with improving the readability of your texts. Nonetheless, with this service, you won’t be able to get even an approximate grade for your work. It also won’t assist with making your writing more topc-focused and properly structured. As such, we would recommend sticking to Grammarly as a spellchecker, rather than a grading tool.
